Polybudget Planner

Set an initial triangle budget, split it across asset categories and estimate a target per asset. Export the plan for discussion, then test it against a representative scene. The presets are starting assumptions, not measured hardware limits.

How to use

Pick a platform preset or type the on-screen triangle total, then drag the category shares to suit the scene you’re planning. Add expected asset counts to get the per-asset target, as a starting point for the art brief. Export Markdown for people or JSON for tooling.

"On screen" = worst-case view after culling, not the whole level. Profile a blockout with stat rhi to check whether the budget fits your scene.

Using a triangle budget

A triangle budget helps a team agree what to build and where to spend detail. Nanite changes how some geometry is handled, but you still need to consider the rendering path, asset types, memory and target hardware. Treat the split above as an initial plan and profile it before turning it into an art requirement.

The Plan -> Audit Loop

Revisit the budget as the project develops. Export the plan, inspect the actual assets with the Asset Health Dashboard, and profile representative scenes. If the evidence suggests the targets are wrong, update them and explain the change to the team.
